Guangdong Museums

I would like to share with you two museums I visited recently:  Guangdong Museum (廣東省博物館) and the Museum of the Mausoleum of the Nanyue King (西漢南越王博物館).

The Guangdong Museum shows Guangdong History and Culture (歷史文化), from the earliest settlements to modern times.  It has different show rooms for Guangdong Natural Resource (自然資源) and arts (藝術),  such as the Chaozhou Woodcarving (潮州木雕) and Pottery and Porcelain (陶瓷), Duan inkstone (端硯), Precious stone (寶石), Paleontological fossil (古生物化石), Mineral (礦產 ), Marine animal (海洋動物), Chinese herbal medicine (中草藥), Wild animal (野生動物).

The Museum of the Mausoleum of the Nanyue King is famous for the well-preserved tomb and funerary antiquity from the Han Dynasty (保存完好的古墓和漢代陪葬文物), as well as elegant and grand architecture from the Lingnan area(嶺南地區的優雅宏偉建築). A silk-jade garment made up of 2,291 pieces of jade (玉器組成的絲綢玉衣) is the spotlight of the mausoleum. The tomb has yielded more than 1,000 burial artifacts (墓葬文物), a chariot(戰車), gold and silver vessels (金銀器), musical instruments (樂器), and human sacrifices (殉葬人) were found.
